The Unpredictable Day in the Life of a Production Coordinator

By Abbie Bailey

“So, what do you do?”

It’s the dinner party question we’ve all been asked and whether you work at an agency like Bunch or not, it’s often difficult to pinpoint exactly what you do when you’re not at work doing what you do.

Officially, I’m a Project Coordinator.

“Production Coordinators at Bunch are key to the success of the team – delivering outcomes for those they support.”

While that might perfectly describe my role here at Bunch in the most succinct sentence possible it doesn’t give much away does it? So what exactly do I do?

I’m a professional googler:

If you need 40 emerald green shirts by 3pm today…no worries. I’ll google and call just about every supplier in town until I get the answer I’m looking for: yes!

I’m the office shop-a-holic:

I wish I had a dollar for every online order I’ve placed in the last month alone. Let’s just say, the post office and I are on a first name basis.

I’m the errands girl:

Two jam donuts, ten red B5 envelopes and some 80’s ski gear. Coming right up!

I’m a data analyst:

I’ve sifted through so many social media statistics I feel like I know you all. And I know that you all really love to know the people and personalities behind Bunch (cute puppy dogs included).

I’m a human data mining device:

I’ve read and annotated enough articles on best practice communications strategy that I find myself sub-consciously analysing my own behaviours. Does this discussion require an email thread or could it be solved with a quick face-to-face conversation? And have I cc’d enough people that it would be far more practical to call a meeting?

I’m even a removalist at times:

I’ve packed and unpacked, sent goods on their way and seen them return, reorganised, labelled and sent them off again on their merry way.

I’m captain clean up:

When the event site needs a tidy or the workshop collateral stash needs an overhaul I’m not afraid to dive right in there and leave something which resembles organisation rather than chaos.

I’m the gate keeper:

Nobody is getting through on my phone line without a genuine appointment or reason for calling.

I’m the hostess with the mostess:

When Friday afternoons call for a cheese platter and champagne. I’m your girl.

At the end of the day I guess you could say I’m an organiser. I organise anything and everything to do with agency life, I’m the go to person to help the team…and sometimes they need help with some strange elements.

No day is ever the same here at Bunch. I often don’t know what I’m walking into when I climb the stairs on a Monday morning. I think that’s what makes work so exciting. Everyday there’s a new challenge and a new adventure ahead.

At Bunch we endeavour to always remember, that no matter what your official title, you can never be above or below any task. If it’s a job worth doing, it’s a job worth doing well. Be clever, be hungry, be straight up, be in tune and make it happen!
